Metropolis takes part in the Rio Summit on Service Innovation in Cities and the Living Labs Global Awards Ceremony

Metropolis attended the Rio Summit on Service Innovation in Cities and theLiving Labs Global Awards Ceremony, organized by Living Labs Global, together with the Cities of Rio de Janeiro and Barcelona and the collaborators The Climate Group and Oracle.

The event, held on 2 and 3 May 2012, enabled the backing of new forms of cooperation between businesses, public sector leaders, and experts to expand the market of innovative services in cities.

On 2 May, the mayors and leaders of 21 cities which took part in the Living Labs Global Awards 2012 presented the winners of this year’s awards, selected from among the 555 proposals submitted by 50 countries.

On 3 May, the 250 delegates took part in various activities where they could exchange ideas, proposals and projects to turn local challenges into global opportunities. As part of this ideal framework, Metropolis presented the Metropolis Initiatives, specific city projects that form the backbone of the new Action Plan. They included the Initiative “Agile Cities for a New Age of Accessibility, Efficiency and Growth”, a project that links cities with technology solution providers in a smart market.

The exchange activities during the Summit addressed Climate Change, Tourism and Mobility, Urban Services, Health and Wellbeing and Governance and Accessibility.
